Located just three minutes off Highway 101 in historic downtown Ukiah, Black Oak Coffee was formed with a mission to bring culinary coffee to our wonderful Mendocino County community and beyond.

We strive to provide a vibrant community space where you can experience great coffee minus pretension, be comfortable, stay awhile. We try to make the menu a second home for the Starbucks customer while simultaneously challenging the coffee connoisseur.

As coffee roasters we treat coffee with a culinary approach, like a fine wine, with seriousness and respect. Our passion is sourcing small lots of coffees from individually named farms, and roasting them to showcase the aroma and flavor of the farm or co-op itself, without putting too much roaster influence on it. Using our vintage 1957 Probat roaster along with state-of-the-art, computer-controlled roast control technology, we roast for sweetness, nuance, and balance.

We created a signature drinks menu to reflect our desire to present something unique for our customers: order a Spiced Brown Sugar Latté, a Café Borgia Latté with artisan chocolate and orange essence, our popular Lovers Lane Latté made with local wildflower honey and garnished with bee pollen, or a Lavender Latté with house made lavender syrup and fresh lavender flower garnish.

Or just come by, grab a cup of joe & a breakfast burrito and enjoy our free wifi. Our large, light-filled building is warm and conducive to good conversation.

Our desire is to be a hub for community from within and without Mendocino County. We want our coffee to be so good you would drive across the county for a cup. We feature regular concerts of local and touring musicians, an in-house vinyl collection being spun, and baristas whose skill and passion for making the perfect coffee drink matches our reverence for roasting the perfect batch. We guarantee it's worth a very short detour on your way through our beautiful corner of the world, and we hope you find a second home in our comfy confines.
